Who says you can't start something new at 50 years old? After my 50th birthday last year, I found a podcast called "Authorish", and immediately started thinking about the dreams of a much younger me. That younger me didn't have a clue about how to move forward. To be honest, before finding the podcast, the 50 year old me was pretty clueless as well.
This step will allow me to offer poetry, and stories to anyone who is interested in inspirational, sweet, romantic, and funny stories and poems.
My mission is not to just build readership, I want to build relationships through art. I hope you will join me on this journey and watch how this website grows with new content.
I completed my first short story and submitted it to a writer's contest, where it was a finalist. Keep scrolling and find out more about The House on Sugar Creek.
Keep an eye out for fun travel content, photography, and even some poetry. My summer release, The Whiskey Orphan, will be sent out to subscribers in August.
This story is a fun story inspired by the house my granny lived in for many years. The house was built in the 1800s. Sadly, it was torn down a few years ago and the subject of an episode of Barnwood Builders.
When heartbreak strikes, escape feels like the only option, fleeing from haunting memories and shattered dreams.
Dani, ghosted by the only man she has ever loved, knows she can’t escape the heartbreak in her small town, and runs to the city full of distractions. Seven years later, the news that her Granny’s 1800’s home is being threatened, propels her back. Despite her fear of ghosts, she is set on fighting to keep this piece of history alive.
David couldn’t see his worth before he met Dani. When he witnesses his dad’s rock bottom, it fills him with fear. Is this his future? Itent on finding himself, he pushes Dani away at the same time, he prays they get another chance, at a better time.
Seven years later, Dani returns to the house and finds David. Irritation at his company turns to turmoil when she sees the state of the house, and she allows fear to send her running. Falling, she is sucked into darkness only to awaken in the same place, but in a different time, wearing a corset. Where is her Prius? What happened to David? Who is the man standing over her that looks like him, but isn’t?
Will David get his second chance? Will Dani choose to stay in her beloved Sugar Creek house, in a time where she feels loved, or will she figure out that the love she is experiencing doesn’t really belong to her, and there is a place and time where her true love waits for her.
My first short story will go live on the website on May 24th. Sign up now to be notified when this Writer's Workout finalist for the Fiction Potluck short story contest goes live on the website.
